What is the Sweetener in XS Energy Drinks?

All XS Energy Drinks are sugar-free. So, you are probably wondering what they are sweetened with. Ace-K (Acesulfame K) and sucralose are the ingredients that give XS energy drinks their sweetness. These two ingredients are both approved government approved additives. They give these drinks a great taste with no bitter after taste, like most other energy drinks.

I'm not trying to be bias, but I haven't met anyone, so far, that doesn't like the taste of XS Energy Drinks. That is definitely the main perk of these drinks. However, I have heard several people say they do not like the taste of Red Bull, the #1 energy drink in the United States (XS is #2).

A bit about the sweetners....

Sucralose is a sugar molecule that has been adapted slightly so that when it passes through your body it tastes sweet on your tongue, but your body does not metabolize it so there is no net impact.

Ace-K is technically an inert organic salt that is excreted unchanged from the body, therefore, yielding no caloric density.

Benefits of Ace-K and Sucralose:

  • Mimic sweet taste of sugar
  • No calories
  • Do not raise blood glucose
  • Do not raise blood sugar levels
Americans love affair with sugar is no secret. Especially, if you take into consideration all the sodas that we drink in the U.S. Too much sugar in your diet can lead to several health challenges and weight gain (something we all hate).

In a recent study by the World Health Organization, it was reported that in 1900 the average American consumed 5 lbs of sugar annually. Today, the average American consumes 150 lbs of sugar annually. 40% of that sugar comes from an average of 2 sodas per day. Crazy!

XS Energy Drinks provides a solution for those looking to decrease the amount of sugar in their diet, but want to drink something cold that will them a boost.
